Ranking the top 10 law schools in the US is easier said than done. There are numerous factors that contribute to the ranking like LSAT scores, culture, and location which when put in a matrix is much too complicated for my meager intellect. Even if I could calculate the winning school I have always thought of the process much like finding a wife/husband.  Each persons criteria will be subjective and he/she may not always say yes when you propose (apply). Before we begin, if for some reason you didn’t start with the U.S. News and World Reports you should, they are one of the best sources and most comprehensive guides on the web. Here is a list of their top law schools. With that said, here are my top ten law schools – in no SPECIFIC ORDER!

  • Yale (New Haven, Connecticut)
  • University of Chicago (Chicago, IL)
  • New York University (New York, NY)
  • University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA)
  • Vanderbilt (Nashville, TN)
  • Emory (Atlanta, Georgia)
  • Columbia (New York City, NY)
  • Notre Dame (Notre Dame, Indiana)
  • Washington and Lee (Lexington, Virginia)
  • Harvard (Cambridge, Massachusetts)
